Who writes this site
Nicolas Hamon
Founder of BetterCallHealth, science communicator in health.
I write everything on this site. My work: teaching you to read your blood test in the order of cause, from the gut wall to the symptom.

Where I come from
Stomach pain my whole childhood, ulcerative colitis named at 23, treatments, never an explanation. After a year, two at most, I stopped waiting for mine: I changed my studies twice, one master’s degree to learn how to build what did not exist, one in health to understand why nobody had built it.
What I finally found was a chain of events: a gut wall that no longer closes, an inflammation that never goes down. Eight years of illness, eight years of archived blood tests, and the only thing that matters: the body has no compartments.
What I am, and what I am not
- Education
- Two master’s degrees: innovation first, then health care management.
- Lived experience
- Eight years of chronic inflammatory illness, and eight years of archived blood tests.
- Work
- Founder of BetterCallHealth, creator of The Method, the BetterCallHealth Inflammatory Index and BCH Scan. Science communicator in health.
- Limits
- I am not a doctor, a clinician or a naturopath. I do not diagnose, I do not prescribe, and I never recommend stopping a treatment: I teach you to read, your doctor decides.
How I write
No opinions, just data. The figures I publish point to their studies. Before I cite a study, I check that it really says what my sentence makes it say.
I read a blood test in the order of cause, not in the order of the sheet: that is The Chain, six links, from the gut wall to the symptom. And I compare each marker to two benchmarks: the lab’s cutoff and the optimal range described in the research.

Where to start
The Decoded guides are available in English: your blood test, your symptoms, the cascades, your gut, fasting. Start with the one that matches your question.
